Calling all Gigantosaurus fans! Get ready to ROAR!
Hi Friends! I have some exciting news for you today! I recently partnered with the TV show, Gigantosaurus, to share with you their brand-new line of absolutely adorable toys. My little guy, Easton, is a HUGE Gigantosaurus fan! He has loved the show ever since it first premiered. Last week we spent an afternoon in my studio and had a dino-mite time making an enormous Gigantosaurus Surprise Egg filled with the new toys!
ABOUT THE SHOW
In case you aren’t familiar with the show, here is a brief recap: “Gigantosaurus stars four fiercely-fun dinosaur friends who take preschoolers on exciting, comedy-filled adventures as they dare to be themselves and explore the world beyond their nests. Every imagination-inspiring episode follows the group on a quest, as they face their individual fears and work together to solve a problem. As the inquisitive Mazu, playful Tiny, timid Bill, and courageous Rocky aim to learn more about Gigantosaurus, they discover they each have something to learn from him, too!”
Episodes of Gigantosaurus are available on DisneyNOW and YouTube, in addition to airing on Disney Junior and Disney Channel. Also, stay up to date with all the latest happenings of the show on their social media channels— Facebook and Instagram.
I’ve included a full step-by-step tutorial, below, on how to make this Gigantosaurus Surprise Egg. Also, I created a cute Gigantosaurus party favor tag. I’ve heard from lots of readers regarding party printables for your Gigantosaurus-loving little one’s birthday celebrations. I hope these thank you favor tags come in handy! But first, let’s take a look at the TOYS!
THE TOYS
The brand-new line of Gigantosaurus toys are HUGE-ly exciting! Easton loves them all so much! The collection includes individual figures of the characters with movable arms and legs, two vehicles (Mazu’s Mazmobile and Bill’s Bubble) that bounce Mazu and Bill up and down as they are pushed, as well as mini and jumbo plush characters. There is also a large Giganto Roar & Stomp action figure that makes stomping and roaring sounds at the push of a button. Easton totally flipped over the roaring!
The toys are available for purchase on Amazon as well as at select Barnes & Noble, Target, Kohl’s, and Walmart locations.
HOW TO MAKE A GIGANTOSAURUS SURPRISE EGG
If you have a little Gigantosaurus fan in your life, then these toys are sure to become their new favorites. To add to the excitement, make them into a Gigantosaurus Surprise Egg. I think this would be such a cute way to give these toys as a birthday or holiday gift. To make the surprise egg all you really need are the toys, white crepe paper, glue and scissors. (Optional: You can also add white tissue paper as a filler to round out the egg shape if you would like. Also, once the egg is complete, you can add brown felt speckles or any other decoration you would like.)
Assembling this Gigantosaurus Surprise Egg is really quite simple. Below are the step-by-step instructions:
Step 1: Start with the Giganto Roar & Stomp action figure since it is the largest toy. Wrap layers of white crepe paper all around it, mummy-style. Apply glue as needed to the crepe paper to hold it in place.
Step 2: Next, fit one of the medium sized toys under the head and neck of the Gigantosaurus. I found that Bill’s Bubble vehicle worked perfectly. Wrap with crepe paper and glue as needed.
Step 3: Then, stand the egg up vertically, using Bill’s vehicle as the base. Place a plush next to the tail of the Giganto action figure and wrap the crepe paper around both, gluing as needed.
Step 4: Next, fit Mazu’s Mazmobile next to Bill’s Bubble. Wrap it in place. Continue to wrap around the entire base until it feels sturdy, gluing along the way as needed.
Step 5: Next, fit a second plush in the middle of the egg. Wrap the plush in place, applying glue as needed.
Step 6: Now it’s time to add the smaller character figures. I found that two small figures fit well above the Giganto plush that I placed in Step 5. Wrap the figures in place, applying glue as needed.
Step 7: I added the last small figure below the Giganto plush to better round out the egg shape. Wrap the figure in place with crepe paper and apply glue as needed. Continue to wrap the entire egg several more times until it is completely covered with no transparent spots. Optional: You can also add a little white tissue paper as filler at this time to further smooth and fill out the egg shape. Then cover with another layer of crepe paper.
Step 8: Now the egg shape is completed! If you would like you can glue small brown felt speckles on the egg at this time, or decorate it in any other way you would like. For presentation, I also loved the idea of creating a nest for the egg. I used a basket and wrapped the outer perimeter with pieces of twisted kraft paper and leaves.
Making the surprise egg (and especially watching Easton open it) was so much fun!
I hope you can use this idea for your dino-loving little ones!
