Hi Friends! Welcome to our “One in a Minion” Banana Split Stand! I’m so excited to share with you that I recently partnered with NBC Universal and Walmart to create this fun Minions birthday party. We all know how much our Minion friends love bananas, so at this birthday party they became the shop “employees”—along with my boys and me—and served up the best banana splits in town! We had a blast!
You can keep the Minion mayhem going and recreate this party fun with Minions party supplies and favors from Walmart. From the tablecloth, to the plates, to the decorating kit and more, these all new Minions party supplies are available exclusively at Walmart. You can see the whole collection of party supplies HERE. “One in a Minion” Banana Splits Minions Birthday Party Theme
I had so much fun with this Minions birthday party theme! This outdoor celebration was really very easy to put together. Below are all the details so you can recreate this party in no time.
First, I constructed the banana split stand using a folding table and my photography backdrop frame. I taped large pieces of white foam board together and then glued wooden textured bulletin board paper to the foam board. Then I wrapped the boards around the sides and front of the table. Next, I cut long pieces of foam board for the left and right vertical sides of the stand as well as the top horizontal portion. I repeated the same process of gluing wooden textured bulletin board paper to these pieces of the stand as well. After the stand was constructed came the fun part…decorating! I designed several printable graphics for this celebration. These printables include the large banana split sign, food signs, bottle labels, and favor tags. All of these printables are available for free in my Just Add Confetti printable library. (Note: In an effort to be fully transparent and honest with you I must make you aware that the printables in the library do not totally match the graphics in these photos. Due to unforeseen circumstances out of my control, it was necessary for me to remove the visuals of the Minions from the printable graphics. I’m so very sorry for this. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience. I hope you can still use these free printables to celebrate with your family and friends.) Along with the printable graphics, I also decorated the stand with the Despicable Me Minions birthday party banner and Minions decorating kit. Lastly, on the tabletop of the stand I placed our Minions shop employees and all the ingredients for an epic banana split bar—chocolate and caramel sauce, sprinkles, chopped nuts, candies, whipped cream, cherries, and bananas…lots of bananas!
Next to the stand I placed a small picnic bench with a large plastic tub to hold the ice cream. I filled the tub with ice and nestled in the ice cream containers to keep them cold. This provided easy access to the DIY banana split bar toppings. Behind the picnic bench I hung the Minions fringe door curtain. This created a fun backdrop and added great color and texture to the party!
In front of the banana split stand I placed small white tables and stools for seating. This party was designed to be a family celebration or very small gathering so there was not a need for more than 8 place settings. I love how festive and fun the table turned out! I first layered a gold sequin table runner on top of the Minions plastic party tablecloth. Then I added the Minions paper dinner and dessert plates and napkins.
For a sweet little ending to our party, I filled Minions party cups full of party favors. These were a huge hit as my kids loved the glasses, stickers, temporary tattoos, and games that were a part of this favor pack. I also created a “Here’s the Scoop…You’re One in a Minion” printable tag. You can grab this printable in Just Add Confetti printable library as well.
