You Are Jaw-some Valentine’s Day Party

Hi Friends! I’m so excited to share with you my You Are Jaw-some Valentine’s Day party that I created with Oriental Trading. This was such a fun little celebration…I dare say it was a “fin-tastic” time! haha!

YOU ARE JAW-SOME VALENTINE’S DAY PARTY: THE THEME

As I was envisioning this little celebration, I knew I wanted it to be bright, festive and fun. I wanted the color palette to be shades of blue with bright red accents. As soon as I spotted this shark photo prop I instantly knew it would make a perfect backdrop and centerpiece to the party. I added grey paper behind the mouth and designed a graphic of wood boards with the words “You Are Jaw-some” stenciled on them. You can download this printable (along with a bunch of others) by filling out the form at the bottom of this post. The shark definitely became the focal point of the party. I love its size and colors. It worked perfectly!

YOU ARE JAW-SOME VALENTINE’S DAY PARTY: THE FOOD

The food for the party was, of course, shark inspired and sweet. You can’t have a Valentine’s Day celebration without some sweets! We enjoyed shark cake, cupcakes, ocean jello, Swedish Fish, and Goldfish crackers. I must say I think the cutest food item on the table had to be the shark and fin lollipops. They were so well made and absolutely adorable. I put the sharks on top of the cupcakes to have them jumping out of the blue frosting as well as to top the jello cups. Just a little whipped cream on top of the jello and the shark lollipop made our own version of a jaw-some jello parfait. Then I used the fin lollipops to top the cake. You can see the full tutorial on how to assemble the cake, here. It was so easy to do and I just love how it turned out.

YOU ARE JAW-SOME VALENTINE’S DAY PARTY: THE FAVORS

Each little party-goer took home a You Are Jaw-some valentine filled with goldfish crackers as well as their shark cup. For a little added fun I created a little tag and attached it to the straw of the cups that read, “You are an ex-STRAW special fin-tastic friend!” The kids loved these cute cups. They were a definite hit!
