Hi Friends! School is officially over and summer has begun! It’s time to start thinking about all of the fun that summer brings. A major highlight of summer is always 4th of July. I remember as a kid, my brother and I would have so much fun decorating our bikes for our community 4th of July parade. I love the idea of continuing this same tradition with my kids. I recently partnered with Oriental Trading to share with you all of the fun items they have to make decorating bikes for July Fourth a breeze.
Along with all of the supplies that you’ll need to decorate your ride, you might want to look the part too! Oriental Trading has the cutest collection of patriotic shirts, hats, and sunglasses.
What you’ll need to decorate your bike:
Below is a list of the items we used to decorate our bikes. I love that Oriental Trading has a bike kit. It’s a great way to get started. Then I just added some streamers, pom poms and pinwheels.
Patriotic Bike Decorating Kit (the kit includes foil wire stars, hanging fans, flags and stars)
White Streamers
Red Streamers
Blue Streamers
Large Cloth American Flags
Patriotic Pom Poms (for handle bars)
Patriotic Pinwheels
I also designed some patriotic printables that we added to our bikes. I loved the little “Let Freedom Ring” sign that we attached to Easton’s tricycle bell. Also, the license plates are so fun! They are editable PDF files so you can add any name you’d like! All of these printables are available for free in the Printable Library (under the summer / 4th of July category).
To begin decorating our bikes we first started with the red, white and blue crepe paper streamers. We wrapped the streamers around the frame of Sawyer’s bike and Easton’s tricycle. We even cut some of the streamers into fringe for the front of Sawyer’s bike. Then, we added pom poms to the handle bars and stars and fans to the wheels. We also added pinwheels to the back of the seat on Easton’s tricycle. He loves how they spin as he rides!
