Hi Friends! I’ve had such a great week sharing all of our fun Halloween party favor, gift, and classroom treat ideas with you all! Your response has been incredible and I am so appreciative of each and every one of you and all of your fantastic feedback and comments—thank you! If you missed any of the posts here they are so you can take a look…our Stay Bright this Halloween Night: Glow Stick Gift Idea, our cute Franken-Slime gift idea, and our Scare the Boo Boos Away: Band-Aid Halloween Gift Idea. Today, I have another Halloween treat to share with you all…our No Bones About It—You’re a Sweet Friend: Marshmallow and Pretzel Skeleton Gift Idea. These sweet little skeletons are very easy to assemble. Just pair them with our “No Bones About It” free printable tag and you will have an adorable Halloween treat for friends, neighbors, or classmates in no time!
To make these marshmallow and pretzel skeletons you will need white chocolate covered pretzels, regular sized marshmallows, mini marshmallows, black candy melts, lollipop sticks, treat bags, and our “No Bones About It” printable.
Step 1: First, take a marshmallow and push it onto the end of one of your lollipop sticks. You will need to make the skeleton face on the marshmallow first. To make the face, I melted a small amount of black candy melts in a dish and with a toothpick drew the eyes, nose and mouth onto the marshmallow. Allow it to dry fully. This is the most time consuming step—the rest of the assembly takes only a few minutes.
Step 2: Next, pick 5 pretzels that you will layer on the stick to create the “bones.”
Step 3: Place the stick through the smallest part of the pretzel.
Step 4: Stack all of the pretzels one after the other on the stick.
Step 5: To keep all of the pretzel “bones” in place use a mini marshmallow as the anchor. Slide the stick through the mini marshmallow and push it all the way up until it meets the pretzels.
Step 6: Your marshmallow and pretzel skeletons are done! What cuties!
To assemble your No Bones About It—You’re a Sweet Friend: Marshmallow and Pretzel Skeletons just follow these 3 steps:
- After your marshmallow and pretzel skeletons are assembled it’s time to package them up! Place each skeleton in a clear treat bag and twist tie the bottom around the lollipop stick.
- Next, grab the free printable tag by entering your name and email in the form below. *Note: The free version of the design is non-editable and would need to have a name handwritten on it to personalize. If you would like the editable PDF version of this design—with the ability to personalize the name(s)—it is available for purchase in my Etsy shop, HERE.
- Then, cut out the entire perimeter of the circles.
- Lastly, simply punch a hole in the top of the tag and tie it to the lollipop stick. Done! So easy and a really adorable gift!

These are adorable! Love all of your Halloween treat ideas. I was wondering if you had any ideas that are a bit more eco-friendly (less paper/plastic. etc)? I would love to make these for my daughter’s Kindergarten class, but just thinking about 20 cellophane bags being thrown out immediately makes me wonder about alternative packaging. Thanks!
Alison says
Hi Alaina,
Thanks so much for your message! I think you bring up a really good point and I think wrapping the skeletons in a small amount of saran plastic wrap would work just as well as the treat bags. Although it is still a form of plastic, I think you would be able to use far less than the amount of plastic used in the treat bag. Or if there is a chance that your daughter and her class would eat them during school/at their class party you could just put them all in a large airtight container. I hope one of these options work well for you. Thanks again for your comment. I really appreciate it!
Have a great day!

I’m not sure how I happened upon one of your Pinterest “No Bones About It” posts but I’m so glad I did! These are the cutest! It’s challenging trying to think ahead for school activities, especially with two kids, however you make planning treats so easy!
Thank you from a mom who still likes to be crafty but is always short on time.

What size sticks did you use? Sooo cute. Definitely going to make with my little one. Thank you!
Alison says
Hi Nic,
Thank you so much for your message! I’m so happy you are planning to make these with your little one. I used standard lollipop sticks from Michael’s Craft Store to make these. I think they were maybe around 7 inches or so. Thanks again!
Have a great evening!

Do you think one of those edible decorating markers would work to draw the faces? We’re having a fall party for my sons kindergarten class and I feel like they would have an easier time drawing the faces themselves with the marker.
Alison says
Hi Mandie,
Thanks so much for your message. Yes! I think edible decorating markers would work really well on the marshmallows. I think that’s a great idea and will be much easier for the kids to draw the faces.
Thanks again! Have a great weekend!

These are adorable and I can’t wait to make them for our trick or treaters. Since I need to make a lot how far in advance do you think I can make them?
Alison says
Hi Cassi,
Thank you so much for your message! I’m so happy to hear you are going to make the marshmallow and pretzel skeletons! If you store them in an airtight container I think you would be fine making them up to a week in advance. I hope this helps! Thanks again!
Have a great day!

I love the Skelton No Bones about it !
But I have a question .
How do you get the pretzels to stay the same way ?
I tried the mini marshmallow but no luck
Alison says
Hi Barbara,
Thank you so much for your message! I’m happy to help! If the pretzels are spinning on the stick, it might help keep them in place when you put them in the cellophane bag. Or you could try putting a mini marshmallow in between each pretzel. I hope these ideas might help. Thanks again!
Have a great day,
Alison
