Huddle up, friends! It’s beginning to feel a lot like fall around here! The mornings are crisp and cool and some leaves are even starting to change color. I absolutely love this season…from the pumpkin patch to the football field, fall is all about spending time with family and friends, enjoying good food, celebrations and holidays. In our family, a big part of our fall weekends are all about football! Whether it’s high school, college, or pro, we all love game day! I recently teamed up with Coca-Cola® and Walmart to share some easy and creative tailgate ideas with all of you!
Regardless of the teams we cheer for, everyone can agree that tailgating with good friends, great food and delicious Coca-Cola® is a win for all! “Share a Coke” bottles are back in Walmart this season and they are better than ever. Not only do the 20 oz. Coke bottles feature over 1,000 unique first names, now you can purchase bottles of Coca-Cola® and Coca-Cola® Zero Sugar with your favorite college football team logos.
Tailgates and Touchdowns: Easy and Creative Tailgate Ideas
In the past, we’ve hosted football watch parties and chili cook-off homegating parties with family and friends. But nothing really compares to the unique environment of tailgating. Tailgates should be fun and inviting while also remaining functional and easy to set up. Packing most loose items in coolers and crates greatly helps with transportation. Then, once you arrive at the tailgate, these same coolers and crates can become the framework of your setup. Walmart makes it so easy to shop for, and stock up on, all the things you need for your tailgating parties this football season. In a quick trip to Walmart, I was able to grab the “Share a Coke with my favorite team” bottles, as well as food, some extra plates and napkins, and the black foam board for my DIY pretzel “Snack Time Playbook” display.
The new “Share a Coke with my favorite team” Coca-Cola® and Coca-Cola® Zero Sugar bottles from Walmart are such a fun addition to any tailgate or football watch party. Enjoy your favorite Coca-Cola® beverage while also rooting for and cheering on your favorite teams this season! Now that’s a win in my book!
When I first started planning this tailgate display I knew I wanted it to have a bit of a vintage feel with chalkboard and hand painted elements. I also knew I wanted the main color palette to be green, black, white, and brown. As with almost all of my parties and displays, I first started by creating some custom graphic designs to bring my ideas to life. I first designed the 20×30 inch “Tailgates and Touchdowns” backdrop printable. Then I moved on to the bottle labels, “Down. Set. Eat.” pennants, and “Snack Time Playbook” sign. All of these printables are available for free in the Just Add Confetti printable library.
Snack Time Playbook: DIY Pretzel Display
Looking for easy and creative tailgate ideas? This quick DIY certainly fills the bill. I wanted to create a fun, eye-catching food display as an additional element of this tailgate. I loved the idea of incorporating pretzels as the “X’s” that are iconic in football plays. With only a few materials and about 30 minutes time, I whipped up this “Snack Time Playbook” DIY pretzel display. The materials needed and step-by-step instructions are listed below.
To create your own DIY Pretzel Display you will need black foam board, the “Snack Time Playbook” free printable (located in the Just Add Confetti printable library), white acrylic paint, hook push pins, one party fan, hot glue, and pretzels.
Step 1: Start by printing the “Snack Time Playbook” free printable (located in the Just Add Confetti printable library). To make this sign a bit more durable I recommend gluing this printable to a piece of white foam board. Then, attach both the “Snack Time Playbook” printable sign as well as the party fan to the top of the black foam board with hot glue.
Step 2: Next, using one pretzel as a guide for size and spacing, determine where you would like to place all of the hook push pins that will hold the pretzels.
Step 3: Once you have all of the hook push pins in place, paint “O’s” and arrows on the black foam board to complete the look of the football plays. Allow the paint to dry. Then, hang all of the pretzels from the push pin hooks and display at your tailgate!
Be the MVP of your next tailgate with the new “Share a Coke with my favorite team” Coca-Cola® and Coca-Cola® Zero Sugar bottles from Walmart! Also, while you are shopping at Walmart, stock up on all your other tailgating essentials. Convenience and one-stop shopping is a total game changer!
I hope you enjoyed my tailgate display and found these easy and creative tailgate ideas to be useful! If you use any of these ideas or printables I’d love to see them! Please follow along on Instagram and tag me. I love connecting with all of you and seeing your awesome celebrations!
