Add a whimsical extra touch to your Easter table with this DIY Carrot Pot Easter Craft. Not only will they look adorable at each place setting they will be a fun favor for your guests to take home after all of the Easter festivities are over. Just follow the few easy steps in the tutorial below and you will have a sweet carrot favor that any-bunny would love!
First, you will need the following materials:
Mini Terra Cotta Pots
Crayola® Air-Dry Clay
Orange Acrylic Paint
Brown acrylic paint
Green raffia
Step 1: Start by painting your Mini Terra Cotta Pots with Orange Acrylic Paint. Allow paint to dry completely.
Step 2: While the painted terra cotta pots are drying, start on the carrot tops. Roll Crayola® Air-Dry Clay into a ball. The ball should be roughly 1.25 inch in diameter.
Step 3: Gently flatten the clay ball in between your hands until it is more of an oval. Then, place the clay over the top opening of the terra cotta pot and apply gentle pressure. This will create an indentation of the pot and a rim for the lid. I used an unpainted terra cotta pot for this step but you can use a painted pot if it is completely dry.
Step 4: With a toothpick, make a small circular hole in the top of the carrot lid. This is where you will add the green raffia in Step 8.
Step 5: Place the lids on a piece of parchment paper and allow them to dry completely. This can take up to 2 days. I first let them dry with the bottom portion of the lid facing up. Then, the next day, I flipped them over so the top could dry evenly as well.
Step 6: Now it’s time to paint the carrot lids! To best match the orange shade of the terra cotta pots, mix a small amount of brown acrylic paint in with the orange paint. Paint all sides and edges of the lids and then allow them to dry completely.
Step 7: Next, cut pieces of green raffia roughly 4 inches long. Group four pieces together and fold them in half, twisting the folded end to a point.
Step 8: Apply a very small amount of hot glue to the tip of the twisted raffia and place in the hole on the top of the carrot lid.
Your DIY Carrot Pot Favors are done! Fill them with foil wrapped chocolate Easter eggs or any other treat you would like. Then arrange one at each place setting on your Easter table for an adorable favor for your guests!
