Hi Friends! Here’s the scoop (see what I did there)…Pikachu Ice Cream is all the rage in our house these days! I made these Pikachu ice cream cones for Sawyer’s Pokemon Birthday Party and my kids went completely nuts over them! Below are the simple step-by-step instructions of how to make them. I used some of the leftover ingredients that I already had from decorating Sawyer’s Pikachu Birthday Cake so I only needed 3 additional items.
To make this Pikachu ice cream you will need ice cream for the head, a cone for the base, Red Hots for the cheeks, and modeling chocolate for the ears and eyes.
I searched my local grocery store for bright yellow ice cream and I couldn’t find it anywhere so I decided to make my own. I colored all of the ice cream a few days before the party to give it enough time to refreeze and harden. I started by placing a few scoops of French Vanilla ice cream in a plastic container. Then I added Wilton Color Right food coloring. This is the same food coloring that I used for the frosting on Sawyer’s Pikachu Birthday Cake. Since it’s so concentrated you only need a few drops. I just stirred the color into the ice cream and repeated this same process until I had colored all of the ice cream from the carton bright yellow. Then I scooped all of the yellow ice cream back into the carton and put it back in the freezer for a few days until the party.
Before the party, I used black and yellow modeling chocolate to make the ears and eyes. This Pokemon celebration was my first time using modeling chocolate (for the cake and this ice cream) and I was amazed at how easy it is to use. It’s sort of the same idea as modeling something out to clay. After I made these facial features I put them in the refrigerator so they would be cool and hardened a bit. Then, when I was ready to serve the ice cream, I just scooped it onto the cone and added the ears, eyes and Red Hots for the cheeks. My boys got a big kick out of the spicy Red Hots for the cheeks because Pikachu’s cheeks can spark with electricity! It’s the little things…haha!
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! If you make this Pikachu Ice Cream I’d love to see it! Please follow along on Instagram and tag me. I love connecting with all of you!
