Hi Friends! Ever since I was a little kid I loved making Valentine boxes for school. I’m so happy that this is still a tradition and now I can help my own kids make their Valentine boxes. You may even remember our pizza Valentine box hack from a few years ago. Are your kids planning to make a Valentine box over the next few days? Well if so, and if you have a big Minecraft fan in your life then this is the post for you. Sawyer and I had so much fun making this Creeper Minecraft Valentine Box together. It was really pretty simple to make too.
Creeper Minecraft Valentine Box
Since all of the characters in Minecraft are square and boxy in style it works really well to make them into a valentine box. To make this Creeper Minecraft valentine box, we first picked out a square box for the head and a smaller rectangular box for the body. (Luckily we had these boxes on hand—thank you Amazon deliveries!) Next, we cut a hole in the top of the rectangular box and a similar sized hole in the bottom of the square box. Then, we wrapped both of the boxes in green bulletin board paper. Any green paper would work well for this step. Wrapping paper could be a good option too. After the boxes were both wrapped we glued them together with hot glue. Next came the fun part, decorating the Creeper!
To decorate the Creeper we cut a bunch of 1.5 inch squares out of green paper and green glittery foam. For the face, you will also need 8 squares of the same size in black paper. You can find decorative paper and foam in the scrapbooking section of any craft store like Hobby Lobby or Michaels. I would highly recommend the glittery foam because it has an adhesive back so you can just peel off the backing and stick it in place. We started decorating the face first by placing green squares in the upper left and right corners. This helped to determine the best placement for the eyes. Then, after we filled in the rest of the face we just put the remaining green squares all around the rest of the head and body.
After we finished adding all of the small green squares to the Creeper it was almost done. The last step was to add the name tag. A boxy “digital” looking heart was a must. I think it matched the Minecraft theme really well! I designed this heart and added Sawyer’s name in a digital looking font. You can grab this free printable in my Printable Library.
